Employee organizations have appealed to the new government to implement this demand, which can increase their salary significantly.




What is Pay Commission?

The Pay Commission is a commission which is constituted by the Central Government every 10 years. Its main objective is to review the salaries and allowances of government employees and suggest amendments in them. The previous i.e. 7th Pay Commission was implemented in the year 2016.

How much can the salary increase be?

If the fitment factor is kept at 2.57 times in the 8th Pay Commission like the 7th Pay Commission, then the salary of the employees can increase by about 14.29%. This means that an employee with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 per month can get Rs 26,000 per month.

However, according to some estimates, the fitment factor can be increased to 3.68, which can increase the salary by up to 44.44%. In this case, an employee with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 per month can get around Rs 95,680 per month.

Government's stand: So far the government has not made any official statement regarding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. However, the pressure of employee organizations is increasing on the government. These organizations are demanding the formation of a new pay commission in view of inflation and salary inequality.

Employee organizations say that inflation is constantly increasing and the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission were implemented only in 2016. Therefore, a new pay commission is needed to revise salaries and allowances. Apart from this, the formation of a pay commission is also necessary to remove the disparity in salary, to resolve the anomalies related to promotion and distribution of posts.

If the 8th Pay Commission is implemented from January 1, 2026, it is estimated that the salary of the employees can increase by up to 44.44%. However, for this the government will have to come forward and seriously consider the demands of the employees. The final decision on this issue will be taken only after the formation of the new government.
